| Q: | What is a dashboard? |
| A: | The Dashboard is your main control center for all of your profiles. |
| Q: | What is a v-card? |
| A: | A v-card is another of linkedFOR’ innovative features. It is a snapshot of your contacts’ most important information: their picture, their relationship to you and weather they are online or not. It also allows you to send quick private messages without having to visit their page or even view their birthday. It also allows you to make private notes about them that only you can see. Notes can be anything from their favorite movie, business you talked about or even where & how you met. The v-card is a revolutionary way of keeping track of your social network. |
| Q: | How do add people to my friends and contact list? |
| A: | You can send anyone you want a friend request. All you have to do is go to your potential friend’s page and click on Add to Friends in the Contact Me box. The linkedFOR system will automatically check off all the categories of the kinds of friends you are looking for; all you have to do is review them and edit if you wish. This will send your potential friend an email asking to add you to their contact list. You can also personalize a message to them saying hello or specify why you wanted to add them. The person you are sending the request to will receive a message telling them who you are and why you want to add them. They can accept all the categories you want to add them to or edit them. They can also accept or deny you as a friend/contact. If they approve you, they have the option of editing the categories you wanted to add them to. |
| Q: | What if someone is spamming me? |
| A: | Delete them as a friend. |
| Q: | If I reject someone else’s add request, will they be notified? |
| A: | No, they will not be notified. |
| Q: | If I remove someone from my friends and contacts list, will they be notified? |
| A: | No, they will not be notified. |
| Q: | Can my friends and contacts see what I have listed their relationship to me as? |
| A: | No, this is only viewable by you. |
| Q: | How do I delete a friend or contact? |
| A: | You can go to the Edit Friends Section, check the friend you wan to delete and press delete. |
| Q: | How do I search through my friends list? |
| A: | You can either search through your categories by clicking on the category the friend you are looking for is in (see questions about categories and networks in this FAQ list) or use the search engine which is set up exactly the same way the general search engine is set up, only this one searches within the boundaries of your friends list. Go to your friends list and click on search. Fill in as much information as you want, depending on who you are looking for. You can do an Advanced search based on personal information such as height or weight, social or professional interests, by keywords or even by information on their resume. |
| Q: | What does Friend’s Relationship mean? |
| A: | The relationship tracker is another great linkedFOR innovation. The icon on the left side of your contacts’ v-card displays how close you are to each of your contacts. You get to choose your relationship level (don’t worry, this is only viewable by you). They can be family, best friend, friend, business contact or just an acquaintance. |
| Q: | Can I categorize people by the status of my relationship with them? |
| A: | You can choose a status for your friends. If you have friends and contacts who are family, the icon on their v-card can be set to family. If it’s someone you have never met before, you can list them as just that; someone you have never met before. |
| Q: | Can other people see what I have set as the status of our relationship? |
| A: | No. If someone considers you a "best friend" but you have them listed as "friend," they don’t need to know that. |
| Q: | What are Relationships? |
| A: | "Relationships" is another term referring to the association you are establishing according to the Category name. |
| Q: | What are Networks? |
| A: | Each member has four different networks under their Friends Network; Professional, social, activities/sports and general interests/hobbies. |
| Q: | Is it true that I can categorize my friends and contacts? |
| A: | Yes it is! You can add each of your friends and contacts to specific categories so finding them in your contact lit will be easy. |
| Q: | How do I choose which categories I want to add people to? |
| A: | When sending out an Add Friend Request, the linkedFOR category system will automatically list all the categories of friends you are looking to add. Or all the categories you have in common? You can edit this list however way you want. For example, if you want to add someone to your contacts for their profession and not personal reasons, you can check all the boxes that pertain to their profession (such as banking) and uncheck the boxes pertaining to personal reasons (such as barhopping). |
| Q: | Why are there categories for friends? |
| A: | This is what is really great about the linkedFOR system of contact organization: you can categorize people specifically by what you have in common with them based on your interests or careers. This way, if you want to send an email to everyone in your banking network, for example, all your friends that you have categorized in your barhopping network won’t be bothered with emails, messages or events that they are not interested in. By assigning categories to each friend as you are adding new them, you can better manage your relationships with each other. |
| Q: | I’m still confused about the categories thing, can you explain it to me in more detail? |
| A: | Sure. Similar to your own profile page, each personalized and all general category that you have under your "Make Friends For" page is automatically given it own profile page or "category profile" page for you to manage your friendships and your interaction with them. Through the profile page, you can manage your interaction with the friends that you have added to each specific Category. The Category Profile page will allow you to have more exclusive interaction / communication with your friends by only allowing your friends to view your interactions. For example, let's say: Bob and John have added each other to their Travel category. John and Chris have also added each other to their Travel category. But Bob and Chris don't know each other and have not added each other to their Travel category. Or Bob and Chris have established a friendship and have added each other to different Categories. |
| Q: | What are General and Personalized Categories? |
| A: | General categories are category fields that we have already created for you to add your friends to or for other members to add you to. Personalized categories are personalized names/fields that you create yourself under each of your 4 networks. For example, "My trip to London," which you could create and place under your social network (or professional if it is/was business related). |
| Q: | What if I am adding a member to my friends list and I find that one of their personalized categories is very similar to one of mine? Can I establish a common link between our two categories? |
| A: | All general categories have already been defined and a link has been established between them that appears under every members General Category list. To help you manage your personalized categories and avoid being added to categories that are meant for the same purpose but have been named differently, we have created a mechanism to allow you to establish a common link between different personalized categories you and your friend create. Let’s say, you have created a personalized category called, "Basketball Fans" and some one you want to add has created a category called, "Fans of Basketball". As you can see the chances of these categories being similar and there potential to mean the same thing is very high. But to help members avoid duplicating and being added to too many different categories (which would make it confusing to manage your relationships) we allow members to, when they are being added to each others categories, associate the two categories. You can make your "Basketball Fans" category consolidate with your new friend’s "Fans of Basketball" category. |
| Q: | How does linkedFOR figure out which categories to associate with each other? |
| A: | This how it’s done: Let’s say, you have created a personalized category called, "Basketball Fans" and some one you want to add has created a category called, "Fans of Basketball". Our system automatically conducts a search of all the words in your categories and all the words in your new friend’s categories. It finds that "fans" and "basketball" are used in both of your personalized categories. Our system then presents a short list of both members’ matching categories to your "Basketball Fans" category. For example:
|
| A: | I sent someone a friend request for several categories. They have been added to my friends list, but not to all the categories that I wanted them to. Why is that? |
| Q: | They may have not wanted to belong to the same categories you chose to add them to. Both you and your contact have to agree on which categories the two of you are listing each other in. |
| A: | Can I change the categories that I have added someone else to on my profile after the add has already been confirmed? |
| Q: | Yes. You simply go to the Category’s profile page, or click on the Common Connection option and uncheck the category you want to be removed form. |
| A: | What if I agree to be listed in someone else’s category but then changed my mind after I already confirmed it? |
| Q: | You simply go to the Category’s profile page, or click on the Common Connection option and uncheck the category you want to be removed form. |
| A: | What if I send an add request and then change my mind about which categories I wanted to add the other person to? |
| Q: | You simply go to the Category’s profile page, or click on the Common Connection option and uncheck the category you want to be removed form. |
| A: | Can I create my own categories? |
| Q: | Absolutely. Go to the Make Friends For, and click on create categories. |
| A: | Can I delete categories? |
| Q: | Absolutely. Go to the Make Friends For, check the category you want to delete and press on the delete button. |
| A: | What if I don’t want people to know which my categories they are a part of? |
| Q: | At this point, this feature is not offered. |
| Q: | Can I enter HTML code to change the look of my profile as others see it? |
| A: | Yes. linkedFOR encourages you to express yourselves by personalizing your profiles, however, we do not have any tools or tutorials to teach you how to do it so you’re on your own. |
| Q: | Is it true that I can have more than one profile? |
| A: | Yes it is. You can have up to 15 profiles, each highlighting another side of you. For example, if you are a designer, a photographer and you want to just make friends, you can make a profile for each one. One for your photography, one for your graphic design examples and one for the kind of music you enjoy. |
| Q: | Do I need to set up different email address for each profile? |
| A: | Not at all. You can access all of your profiles from your Dashboard. |
| Q: | What is a dashboard? |
| A: | The Dashboard is your main control center for all of your profiles. |
| Q: | When people add me to their contacts list, do all my profiles get added? |
| A: | No. If someone adds to your photography page, for example, they are not necessarily added to your music page. You always have the option to add people to multiple profiles by sending them add requests using different profiles. |
| Q: | What if I want to add someone to my general contact list? |
| A: | People are automatically added to each others general list. |
| Q: | If I send out a message to all my friends from one profile, do people who are on my other profiles receive them as well? |
| A: | No. Anything you send out on one profile goes only to the friends you have added to that profile. |
| Q: | Do I have to go to different profiles in my dashboard to see my contacts according to that profile? |
| A: | Not unless you want to. You can categorize your contacts however way you want. |
| Q: | Does everyone know when I am on or offline? |
| A: | The default setting shows your online status but you can change it whenever you want to in the privacy settings. |
| Q: | Who’s pictures are presented to members when visiting their friends category profiles. |
| A: | When you visiting a member’s category profile page, the pictures of all of that members friends that are part of his or her category are accessible to the visiting member. The visiting member can already be a friend or not. |
| Q: | How do I upload a picture? |
| A: | From your Profile page, click on upload pictures and follow the directions. |
| Q: | How do I choose a profile picture? |
| A: | The first image you upload automatically becomes your profile picture. After you upload more pictures, an option is given below the image to make it your profile picture. |
| Q: | How do I delete a picture? |
| A: | Go to your photo center by clicking on upload pictures from your Dashboard. Underneath each image there is an option of deleting it. |
| Q: | How much does it cost to upload pictures? |
| A: | There is never a cost for uploading pictures! It’s free! |
| Q: | What if I don’t want everyone to see all of my pictures? |
| A: | In your privacy settings is an option to restrict who can look at your pictures. |
| Q: | How do I join someone else’s group? |
| A: | Go to their group’s main page. Click on Join Group. If the group is Private, an email request will be sent to the moderator at which point they can approve or deny your request to join. |

Delete any Comments they leave on your Profile page, and you can even delete any messages they send you via the linkedFOR Mail system without opening them.
